CAPTAIN COMMIN'S RAMBLE. AKA and see "Captain Campbell's Ramble." English, Jig (6/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. As "Capt. Cummin's Ramble" the tune appears in the 1776 music manuscript copybook of Revolutionary War fifer William Morris, inscribed "William Morris, First Regament [sic] Hunterdon" (County, New Jersey). The tune was entered as "Captain Cambles Ramble" (i.e. "Captain Campbell's Ramble") in the large 1770 music manuscript collection of Northumbrian musician William Vickers.
