"Breakdown de minuit" was recorded c. 1937 for Bluebird Records in Montreal by fiddler Maurice Ferland, probably a pseudonym for Joseph Allard (1873-1947), a prolific recording artist in the 78 RPM era. The opening bars in the first stain form a motif that is quite widespread in Britain, Ireland and North America.
