While the tune was used as the melody for a rare broadsheet ballad by Allingham, Mac Aoidh states it makes a very nice slip jig. O'Neill (1903) prints the tune as a slip jig under the title "[[Ellen O'Grady]]." The tune appears as an untitled slip jig in the mid-19th century music manuscript collection of County Cork uilleann piper and Church of Ireland cleric James Goodman [http://goodman.itma.ie/volume-one#?c=0&m=0&s=0&cv=129&z=863.893%2C974.0919%2C7374.2874%2C4466.6667]. The first part of this tune is also used for the English song "Sorry the Day I Was Married" (Roud 1561).
