The melody is a part of a Lancers Quadrille set, sometimes as the fourth or fifth figure.  The title "Les Graces" in Robert Hughes' (Whitchurch, Shropshire) 1823 music manuscript collection refers to one of the classic quadrille figures in the lancers set devised and popularized by London dancing master John Duval: La Dorset, Lodoiska, La Native, Les Graces and Les Lanciers.
