=== Usage ===

Use {{Tlx|Format footnotes|date{{=}}{{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTYEAR}}}} to alert editors to articles with improperly formatted or non-formatted citations.

* This template will add the page to [[:Category:Articles needing footnote reformatting]] and [[:Category:Articles covered by WikiProject Wikify]].

* A [[WP:BOT|bot]] will add the date for you at a later time if you forgot.

Use in an article with citations like:

<blockquote>Australia has a government [http://www.australia.gov.au/ Australian Government].</blockquote>

or 

<blockquote>Australia has a government<sup>see footnote 1</sup></blockquote>


A standard, correct way of formatting this citation would be:

<blockquote>Australia has a government ([[WP:PAREN|Australian Government Press Agency, 2009]]).

</blockquote>

or:
