Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Fr. John Quinn links Roche's "Captain Bluett's" with British military marches "[[Captain Reid's Delight]]," "[[Third Buffs March (The)]]," and "[[Dorsetshire March (The)]]," popular particularly under the latter title since the mid-18th century. <BR> <BR> Compare the first strain to Bellini's "[[Grand March from the Opera of "Norma"]]," a popular 19th century march that sometimes appears in fiddlers' manuscript books as "[[Grand March of Norman (1)]]," or "[[Grand March of Normal (1)]]." The interval movement in the first two bars is quite similar to that of "Bluett's," albeit a sixth apart, and the entire marches are structurally similar.
