The tune was included by Kirkmichael, Perthshire, fiddler and composer Robert Petrie in his '''Second Collection of Strathspey Reels and Country Dances''' (1796, p. 10). John Glen gave the tune as "[[Honorable Mrs. F. Gray]]." <br> <br> The numerous tunes with similar titles has led to some confusion. The "Honb.le Mr. F. Gray's Strathspey" included in Robert Mackintosh's '''68 New Reels''' (1793) is a different tune.
