QUADRILLE ACADIEN. AKA and see "Gigue Indienne," "Reel du carnaval." French-Canadian, Reel. The tune is from the playing of Quebec fiddler Jospeh Allard (1873-1947), recorded in Montréal in 1928 as "Quadrille acadien" (Victor 263543), and again in 1937 under the title "Reel du carnaval" (Bluebird B-1123). It was also issued on the Bluebird label under Allard's pseudonym, Maxime Toupin.

Isidore Soucy recorded his version of the tune as "Gigue Indienne", also in late 1928 (Starr 1557-A). The third strain of the reel was also employed by Soucy on another tune (Starr 15363b), and (on a different tune) by fiddler Willie Ringuette (Starr 15347a).
