FANNY ELSLER’S SPANISH CACHUCA.AKA and see La Cachucha, La Cachuca, My Daddy Was a Dutchman. Spanish, American, Waltz (3/4 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Fanny Elssler (1810-1884) was an Austrian ballerina, who introduced interpretations of character and folk dances into ballet. In 1836 she premiered the role of Fiorina in the ballet Le Diable Boiteux by French composer Casimir Gide. The biggest hit from that ballet was the Cachucha, a Spanish folk dance. In the 1840's, she toured America and Europe, performing many of her favorite dances, including the Cachucha.
