A version of the second strain appears in the second part of O’Neill’s “Thompson's Reel (1).” See also the related “Maid in the Cherry Tree (1) (The).” The title was made up for the 1966 McGann/Burke/Dolan recording, since Joe Burke, who introduced the tune, had no name for it. It was was decided to title it in honor of Paddy Lynn, a New York City bus driver and Irish music enthusiast.
