Austin Tierney (1888-1936) was a member of the long-lived Kilfenora Céili Band, County Clare, in the early 20th century. The '20s era core group consisted of Jim Mulqueeney (fiddle), Jim McCormack (flute), John Joe Lynch (fiddle & drums), Austin Tierney (fiddle) and Lynch's sister, Mrs. Brigid McGrath, on concertina. They were sometimes assisted by Tom Ward - (fiddle), Lil McCormack, (piano), Paddy "Pepper" Linnane, Tommy Mulqueeney, Pat Madigan (banjo, clarinet, bass), Jimmy Leyden (drums), brother and sister Paddy and Nora "Marshall" McMahon (flute and fiddle respectively) and Maureen Kelly (piano).  Tierney was born in Lickeen, Kilfenora, Co. Clare, Ireland, and died at in Ballytarsna.
