EDDIE MOLONEY'S JIG [1]. Irish, Jig (6/8 time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Named for flute player Eddie Moloney, a member of Mulhaire's Céilí Band and the Shaskeen Céilí Band. Although he lived in Galway City, Moloney was originally from the area around Ballinakill, County Galway--"a place famous for its flute and fiddle players," says fiddler Séamus Connolly--and had a repertoire of melodies representative of the region.
