Biographical notes

LUTHER STRONG. Luther Strong (1892-1963) was born in Breathitt County, Kentucky. In the 1920's he seems to have spent time in Hamilton, Indiana, but returned to Hazard, Kentucky, prior to 1931. In adult life he lived variously in Breathitt, Perry and Leslie Counties in the state, and died in 1963 in Scott County, Indiana. Strong was recorded in Hazard by Alan and Elizabeth Lomax in 1937 for the Library of Congress, but only after they bailed him out of the local lockup, where he had been charged with public drunkenness.
