Her mother was Jane Duff, only daughter and heiress of Alexander Duff by his wife, Lady Anne, eldest daughter of William Duff, first Earl Fife. Sir James and Jane were married in 1763, at Bath. Penuel was born in December, 1779 and died in January, 1844.
