Baldovie is an estate in Forfarshire that became the property of John Farquharson through marriage.  John wed Elizabeth Ramsay in 1766, and with her acquired the estate of Baldovie, which she inherited from her uncle, Dr. Thomas Ogilvie. His son, Thomas Farquharson of Baldovie, born in 1770, a magistrate and deputy lieutenant of Forfarshire, succeeded to the estate.
