Coes' Coes Album of Jigs and Reels (1876), followed by a printing in Scotland in Laybourns' Köhlers’ volume in a section of "Six American Reels." Two years later it was published in Boston in William Bradbury Ryan's Ryan's Mammoth Collection (1883) under the title "Dick Sands' Hornpipe" (see "Dick Sands' Hornpipe"), in association with a renowned American minstrel and variety stage performer. The first strain is also employed in the French-Canadian "Reel St-Ignace."
