'''CULTIVATEUR, LE''' (The Farmer). French-Canadian, Reel. C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody was recorded by fiddler Joseph Allard (1873-1947) in 1929. Allard was born either in Châteauguay, Province de Québec, or in Maine, to French-Canadian parents. His family returned to Canada when Allard was  quite young, but at age 16 he returned to the United States to live for some 20 years before he eventually settled in Québec. While he recorded some 75 sides, he    was not a professional musician (although semi-professional when he was younger) but rather worked as a fisherman.
