|f_source_for_notated_version= William Litten's music manuscript collection [Huntington]. Litten was a ship's fiddler who sailed with the British East India fleet on a voyage to China during the years 1800-1802. Little else is known about him. His music manuscript came into the possession of sailor Allen Coffin, although how is a mystery. Coffin brought it home with him to the Massachusetts island of Martha's Vineyard in the early 19th century, when he finished his own voyages. | |||
