Attributed to fiddler-composer [[Biography:John French]] (1752–1803) of Cumnock, Ayrshire. Mrs. Fullarton was nee Marianne Mackay, the second daughter of George Mackay, 5th Lord Reay. In 1792 she married William Fullerton (1754–1808) a soldier, statesman, agriculturalist and author, who had been a hero of British arms in India. They had one child, a daughter. In 1805 the estate of Fullarton, Ayrshire, was purchased by the Duke of Portland. Marianne Fullarton died in March, 1838, surviving her husband by thirty years.

MRS. FULLARTON OF FULLARTON’S STRATHSPEY. Scottish, Strathspey. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. Attributed to fiddler-composer Biography:John French (1752–1803) of Cumnock, Ayrshire.
