From the playing of harmonica player Louis Blanchette (1905-1969), born in Rivière-du-Loup into a farming family whose father played the fiddle. In 1930 he moved to Montreal and began a fairly prolific recording career in the 78 RPM era, making some thirty recordings. The reel was also in the repertoire of Louis Beaudoin.
