The title refers to Dickson County, north-central Tennessee (just west of Nashville), where the fiddler lived.  Collector Bob Christeson recorded champion Burt County, east Nebraska, fiddler Bob Walters playing the tune in 1950, but remarked it was the only time he heard the tune in his collecting experience.  It would seem Walters learned it from Arthur Smith's recording.
