SOUND OF SLEAT. Scottish, Reel (whole time). D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBC (Martin/1988): AABCCD (Martin/2002). Wikipedia:Sleat (pronounced slate) is the name of a sea inlet on the west coast of Scotland, lying between mainland Knoydart and the Wikipedia:Isle_of_Skye. Composed by Pipe Major Donald Mackinnon of Broadford (Isle of Skye), this reel has become a classic of 20th century bagpipe music. Mackinnon served in Korea with the King’s Own Scottish Borderers before emigrating to Australia in the mid-1950's.
