N:This hornpipe is well known among Irish traditional musicians for many eyars. This
N:setting was recorded for the Gramophone Company in London in January, 1910, by
N:Scottish melodeon player, Frederick James (Fred) Cameron, who was born in Elgin in
N:1883. He spent his working life as a tailor. Before the First World War he was in
N:great demand to play at weddings, Harvest Homes, Concerts and in dance halls. During
N:service in the First Wrold War he was badly wounded and an arm had to be amputated,
N:which meant he couldn't play the melodeon anymore. He then taught himself to play
N:the cornet. He died in 1949.
