TICKNOR'S QUADRILLE. American, Quardrille (6/8 time). USA, Michigan. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB. "Ticknor's Quadrille" was recorded by the Ford Orchestra for Edison Records (Edison matrix 10722) in New York in mid-December, 1925, and released on RCA Victor 35771 (78 RPM), with calls by Benjamin Lovett ("Virginia Reel" is on the reverse side). The 'orchestra' was Henry Ford's square dance band, largely assembled from Michigan musicians. However, another recording of "Ticknor's Quadrille" (without dance calls) was issued on a private label 78 RPM recording, Early American Dances 116-A, in Dearborn, Michigan, which was released by The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village (the 'B' side of the recording is "Quadrille: Cub Berdon's Favorite"). The quadrille has three changes, and includes motifs from "Lady of the Lake," "Kingdom Coming" and "Listen to the Mockingbird."

According to Paul Mitchell, "Ticknor's Quadrille" was named for the grandfather of Clayton Perry (the Fork Orchestra's fiddler), whose name was George Ticknor, of Ashtabula, Ohio.
