BRISK YOUNG SOLDIER. Old-Time, Breakdown. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. See also "King's Lament" or "Dicky's Discovery," from the repertoire of Mel Durham, which shares the same first strain, although the second strains diverge.

Source for notated version: Harvey Taylor [Phillips]. Taylor (1894-1987) of Effingham, Illinois, claimed to know two thousand tunes, consisting of fiddle standards, songs, popular pieces, and many obscure tunes for which he was highly sought out by field collectors.

Printed source: Phillips (Traditional American Fiddle Tunes), vol. 1, 1994; p. 37.
