CURLY HEADED PLOWBOY, THE. AKA and see "Ploughboy [1]." English, Country Dance Tune (2/2 time); New England, Polka. G Major (Miller & Perron, Raven): D Major (Barnes, Sweet). Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody (as "Curly Headed Ploughboy") appears as a country dance in the music manuscript collection of Rossendale, East Lancashire, musician James Nuttall, compiled around 1830. It was later adapted for use as a polka for New England dances.
