CROOKE, THE. English, Air (cut time). B Flat Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABBCC. This air, probably a dance tune, appears in the British Museum MSS. Reg. Appendix 58. Its chief interest, states Chappell, is that it is an example of the form "'Air and Variations' at the earliest stage of its existance.
