CORELLI'S GAVOT. English, Gavot. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The melody occurs in the final movement of Italian composer Archangelo Corelli's Trio Sonata op. 2, No. 1 (1685). It was printed with a country dance in Daniel Wright's Compleat Collection (vol. 1, London, c. 1740). See also the variant "Mr. Cosgill's Delight."
