Back to Lark on the Strand (2)

LARK ON THE STRAND [2]. AKA and see "Blooming Meadows (3)," "Primrose Glen (The)," "Wicky Sears." Irish, Double Jig. G Major/E Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. A different setting than Breathnach's "Lark on the Strand (1)." However, Breathnach does print this tune in his CRE I (No. 5) as "Primrose Glen (The)" which he maintains is the correct title.

Source for notated version: Paddy O'Brien (County Offaly) [Mulvihill].

Printed sources: Cranitch (Irish Fiddle Book), 1996; p. 57. Mulvihill (1st Collection), 1986; No. 86, p. 83.

Recorded sources: Green Linnet CSIF 3082, Paddy O'Brien & Séamus Connolly - "The Banks of the Shannon" (1993. The tune on the album was recorded by Paddy O'Brien in 1954 on 78 RPM). Shanachie 78005, De Danann - "Hibernian Rhapsody."
