COLONEL FRASER OF KNOCKY. Scottish, Strathspey. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The title honors perhaps Captain Simon Fraser (1773-1852) of Knocky (here 'promoted' several ranks). The strathspey first appeared in A Collection of entirely original Strathspey Reels, Marches, Quick Steps &c. (1801), "by Ladies resident in a remote part of the Highlands of Scotland." J. Murdoch Henderson identified the ladies as 'the Misses White of Brockley'. The collection was edited by Nathaniel Gow and published in Edinburgh by Gow & Shepherd.
