Back to Villagers (The)


VILLAGERS, THE. English, Jig. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. In addition to the Moore ms. (noted below), the tune appears in the 19th century music manuscript collections of the Welch family (Bosham, Sussex), James Nuttal (Rossendale, east Lancashire, 1830), and Tiller (unknown origin).

Source for notated version: a c. 1837-1840 MS by Shropshire musician John Moore [Ashman].
