AP SHENKIN. There are numerous titles for the tune. The "Ap Shenkin" title comes from Parry ("Bard Alaw") in his book The Welsh Harper (vol. 1. p. 105), with the attribution: "Composed by J. Parry, 1803."
Samuel Bayard collected a version of the tune in southwestern Pennsylvania in the 1930's as an untitled square dance tune in the reportoire of fiddler and singer Samuel Losch (a middle-aged man who had been born in Juniata County).
