Source for notated version: Wilson Douglas (W.Va.), learned from the repertoire of French Carperter (W.Va.) [Phillips]. Carpenter, in the intro. to his recording (see below) credited it to "Old Uncle John McCune. It was an old-timer." Wilson Douglas himself said that McCune "was supposed to have composed it".
