There was in fact a new British Shilling by Luis Pingo issued in the year 1787 in the reign of George III (1760-1820), nearly at the time publication of McGlashan's collection. It was the only year of an issue of currency silver until the great recoinage of 1816. There are two different reverses for the 1787 shilling, one with a semme of hearts and one without (both equally valued). | |||
