Back to Norwegian Waltz (2) (The)
NORWEGIAN WALTZ [2], THE.' Irish, Waltz. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB'. The tune is a reworking of a waltz recorded by Canadian fiddlers Don Messer and (later) Graham Townsend. It retains the flavor and phrasing of "Norwegian Waltz (1) (The)," but is melodically different enough to be considered a variant.
Sources for notated versions: fiddler Graham Townsend (Ontario, Canada) via button accordion player Jackie Daly (Kanturk, County Cork) & Manus McGuire (County Sligo, Ireland) [Matthiesen].
Printed sources: Matthiesen (Waltz Book II), 1995; p. 41.
Recorded sources: Green Linnet SIF-1051, Jackie Daley, Seamus & Manus McGuire - "Buttons and Bows" (1984).
