O DEAR MOTHER MY TOES ARE SORE [2]. AKA and see "Monongahela March" (Pa.), "Clicksticks" (Pa.), "Jinny O Jinny My Toes are Sore" (Pa.), "White Cockade (The)" (Pa. floating title). American, Jig or March. USA, southwestern Pa. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Bayard (1981) groups several variants because of the common first strain, which he believes is "rather old," while the second strains are often distantly or not at all related. Other tunes Bayard finds sharing this first strain are: "Rustic Reel (1)," "Virginia Reel (3)," "Libby Prison Quickstep," "First Western Change," and "City Guards."
