Back to Old Homestead (The)
OLD HOMESTEAD, THE. Canadian, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Composed by Ontario fiddler John Burt in 1933. Burt was, at the time, one of three fiddlers with the group "George Wade and the Cornhuskers," a big-band ensemble that also had a jew's-harp, piano, trumpet and drums [1]. At one time the group also featured a young fiddler, Jean Carignan. The reel has similarities with American "Rachel (1)."
