HAUL AWAY THE HAWSER [1]. English, Reel (cut time). England, Northumberland. A Dorian/Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Source William Vickers did not indicate any flats or sharps in his original [1], although the tune plays well with one sharp (key of 'A' dorian ).The tune appears in the c. 1812 music manuscript collection of Northumbrian musician John Bell [2] (1783-1864). Bell's tune is nearly indentical with Vickers', save that the strains are reversed.
