MR. LANE'S TRUMPET MINUET [1]. English, Minuet (3/4 time). C Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. The tune, by Mr. Lane, dancing master to Charles II, was first published in Henry Playford's Dancing Master Part II, supplement to the 9th edition (1696). It was retained in the long-running Dancing Master series through the 18th and final edition of 1728, then published by John Young, heir to the Playford publishing concerns.
