DAN SULLIVAN'S SHAMROCK BAND. Irish, Polka. D Mixolydian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Dan Sullivan was born in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of an immigrant Irish fiddler of the same name (the elder Sullivan is mentioned in O'Neill's Irish Minstrels and Musicians as "the great Irish fiddler, known to everybody in Boston and the adjoining towns"). The younger Sullivan played piano, and in 1926 formed a band of Munster immigrant musicians. They soon made it into the recording studio and waxed some 100 well-regarded 78 RPM sides between 1926 and 1934. 'A' mixolydian versions also extent.

Source for notated version: fiddler Liz Carroll (Chicago, Il.) [Sullivan].
