LOVELY LASSIE WINKING, THE (Sméideadh na Meidhre Maisí). Irish, Reel. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The tune is called "Jenny Got a Clinking" in County Longford, according to Breathnach/Small. There is some resemblance in the first strain (but perhaps not enough to call either one a variant) to that of "Kitty Got a Clinking Coming from the Races (2)," which is also called "High Road to Linton" or "Jenny's Gone to Linton." Thus there is mixing and/or alteration of titles, whether inadvertent or deliberate, with "Jenny" being mentioned in titles and "winking" or "clinking" also appearing in several titles. The "Kitty Got a Clinking" title is associated with several different tunes.
