COUNTESS OF SUTHERLAND'S STRATHSPEY, THE. Scottish, Strathspey. A Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AB. Although Alexander McGlashan published it more than twenty-five years before she did, the strathspey is the composition of Magdalene Stirling (1765–1846), the youngest daughter of Sir William Stirling, 4th Baronet of Ardoch, Perthshire, and his wife Christian Erskine.
