PEELER’S JACKET [5]. AKA and see “Michael Carney's Reel,” “Raveled Hank of Yarn (1).” Irish, Reel. G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). Michael Carney was an uilleann piper who recorded the tune (as "The Peeler's Jacket") in New York in 1929 in duet with famed Sligo fiddler James Morrison (paired with "Duke of Leinster (The)"). Carney gave Morrison lodging when the fiddler arrived in New York, an émigré from Ireland. When Clare piper Willie Clancy recorded the reel on 78 RPM in the 1950's he called it "Michael Carney's Reel," although later he began calling it "Raveled Hank of Yarn (1) (The)."
