Ardrossan Castle [1] is a ruin on the west coast of Scotland situated on a ridge above the town of Ardrossan, Ayrshire. It was demolished by Cromwell's forces and stones removed for the construction of another fortification. It is reputed to be haunted by the ghost of the Scottish hero William Wallace, who caused the slaughter of the castle's English garrison during the Wars for Scottish Independence.
