Tune properties and standard notation


DOWN BY THE BACK LANE. AKA and see "Down the Back Lane," "Down the Dark Lane," "Boring the Leather (2)," "Tolladh an Leathair". Irish, Double Jig. D mixolyian/G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AAB. The tune is in D mixolydian for much of both parts, but eventually resolves to 'G' at the cadence. See note for "Down the Back Lane." Some distanced relationships with the family of tunes that includes Come with Me Now, Connachtman (The), Connaughtman (The), Humors of Ayle House (The), Kilfinane Jig (The), Shoemaker's Fancy (The), When You Go Home.
