In 1747 she married James FitzGerald, 20th Earl of Kildare, with whom she had a remarkable nineteen children. After the Duke died in 1773 she married her children's tutor, William Ogilvie, a commoner with whom she had previously had an affair (the Duke had also been known for his infidelities), and had a further three children.
