KING'S HORNPIPE [1], THE. AKA and see "King's Head (1) (The)," "Soldier’s Joy (1)." English, Hornpipe. England, Northumberland. D Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Vickers' "King's Hornpipe" [1] is one of the earliest (if not the earliest) appearances in print of the ubiquitous reel "Soldier's Joy."
