Tune properties and standard notation

FAHY'S REEL [1] (Ríl an Fhathaigh). Irish, Reel. D Minor. Standard tuning (fiddle). AA'BB. Probably the best-known composition of Paddy Fahy, a prolific composer who does not appear to have named his pieces.

Source for notated version: New York fiddler Kathleen Collins, who learned it directly from Paddy Fahy (Ireland) [Breathnach].

Printed sources: Breathnach (CRÉ III), 1985; No. 122, p. 59. Bulmer & Sharpley (Music from Ireland), vol. 2, 1974; No. 32.

Recorded sources: Shanachie Records 29002, "Kathleen Collins" (1976).
