OLD PLANTATION GIRLS. American, Slip Jig (9/8 time). A Dorian. Standard tuning (fiddle). AABB. Identified by 18th century Glasgow publisher James Aird as "Virginian" [1] (see also Aird's "Sam Jones" for another "Virginian" tune). There is nothing particularly American in the melody's character, however, and probably has a British or Irish provenance.
