IS YOUR WALLET MADE OF SILK? AKA and see "Sheehan's Slide." AKA - "Is it silk that's in your wallet?" Irish, Slide (12/8 time). G Major. Standard tuning (fiddle). ABA (Shields/Goodman): AABB (Breathnach). A traditional song air used as a slide, states editor Jackie Small (CRÉ V) in his note to the tune. Eoghan Rua Ó Súilleabháin wrote a song to the air, says Small, called "Cois Abhann I nDé," which appears in The Poets and Poetry of Munster (pp. 270-271). The earliest appearance of the tune in print is in Church of Ireland cleric James Goodman's mid-19th century music manuscripts. Goodman (1828-1896) was an uilleann piper, and an Irish speaker who collected locally in County Cork and elsewhere in Munster. He also obtained tunes from manuscripts and printed collections.
